The best winter membrane overalls for children. Firms, brands and models

A recent article was dedicated to the best children's winter boots . Today we’ll talk about exactly what companies, brands and models have filled the niche of membrane overalls. These are the ones I prefer when buying. They are light, warm, do not hinder movement and are great for active children for the whole 3 seasons.

German brand Eat ants by Sanetta

sanetta.de/eatants

Eat ants is Sanetta's outerwear line. German brand, German quality . In Germany, these overalls are even more common than Finnish Reims. However, their range is not very wide.

Winter models are sewn from wear-resistant and waterproof fabric; the insulation can be different - holofiber or polyester. You need to look at the label. Membrane is usually 5000 (water resistance value in mm of water column). Inside, in the upper part of the jumpsuit and the hood is a nice soft fleece.

The jumpsuit has a long zipper, which is closed by a placket with buttons and Velcro - it will be easier for the child to dress. Adjustable drawstring at the waist. Velcro cuffs, there are straps. For added safety in the dark, reflective inserts on the sleeves, legs and back.

Finnish Lappi Kids

lappikids.com

Finnish brand, exists since 2010. Great clothes for Lapland children (such a translation 🙂) The clothes belong to the Premium class.

Pros - high-quality membrane, ISOSOFT or Valterm synthetic insulation (most often 300 g, which corresponds to temperatures up to -30), windproof strip over the zipper, reflective details (in Europe, manufacturers are simply obliged to sew them on), elastic on the belt, knitted cuffs, seams glued with a special tape for extra strength and tightness, additional fleece lining (except for sleeves).

A little cheaper things are produced under the Taika by Lappi Kids brand. The main differences in parameters for Lappi Kids are 5000 g/m/24h and 5000 mm (breathability and moisture resistance, respectively) and 3000 g/m/24h and 5000 mm for Taika.

Finnish Remu by Travalle

travalle.fi

Travalle Oy has been operating since 1969 and specializes in the production of children's outerwear designed for use in difficult northern conditions.

The company sells its products under the brand names Remu® and SuperRemu® (for older children).

Remu stands for REAL MULTY PROTECTION UNIVERSAL. This is a true all-round multi-protection and a great choice for those who value durability, moisture protection, warmth, safety and functionality in children's outerwear. Outer children's clothing from Travalle is really not wet and not blown, it is minimally susceptible to pollution. In winter models, a heater of 160 grams, 200 grams and 340 grams is used. This gradation allows you to choose the appropriate overalls for all regions of Russia - from Kaliningrad to Khabarovsk.

Travalle REMU clothing material is a windproof polyamide treated on the wrong side with microporous polyurethane. It does not let water droplets in, but allows moisture to pass through the fabric to the outside. Therefore, REMU not only protects against water, but also breathes. With a double fluorocarbon treatment, this fabric effectively repels dirt. Two types of fabric are used for the collection: dense trouser fabric of increased strength and soft elastic jacket fabric of increased comfort.

The overalls have sealed taped seams, leg without internal seam - no wear, safe removable hood, soft lining on the cuffs, collar and hood made of warm fleece helps retain heat, many reflective details, shoulder straps on the legs, durable high-quality zippers, double protective patch protects from wind and moisture, a protective anti-storm valve closes the zipper from the outside, the Isosoft insulation creates a warm air cushion inside, which prevents heat loss 3 times more effectively than a conventional synthetic winterizer.

Danish brand Color kids

colorkids.com

In 1997, the Danish company Active Sportswear launched its own children's clothing brand, Color Kids . Their principles are colorful drawings, good quality and functionality of clothes. Thanks to this, overalls have become popular throughout Europe, but the main market share is in the Scandinavian countries.

The main part of winter models have Isosoft insulation 300 gr, moisture resistance value of 5000 mm, air permeability - 5000 gr / m2 / 24 h. The seams are fully taped, there is a fleece lining of 180 g. RUDOLF GmbH. Temperature conditions up to -30 degrees.

But there may be other options for fillers. For example, reinforced membrane fabric Oxford 5000/3000, made using Air-Flo 5000 technology with a polyurethane coating, or a little more modest - as in the picture below.

Of the other pluses - an elastic band at the waist, reflectors, a windproof strap with Velcro, but the Velcro themselves are rather weak. Chin protection, detachable hood, silicone foot loops - everything is as it should be!

Swedish brand Didrikson

didriksons.com

Scandinavians know very well what cold is. Therefore, Finnish, Danish, Swedish winter clothes are in great demand. Didrikson is another confirmation of this. Since 1913, they have occupied the niche of technological functional clothing - raincoats, off-season overalls, winter outerwear.

The design of the overalls has the following features: ergonomic cut, reinforcement of “problem” areas (knees and buttocks), removable hairpins at the bottom of the legs, loops for attaching mittens, reflective inserts, additional drawstrings, zippers for ventilation, etc. A big plus is the “growth system”, the models “grow” with the child (the length of the sleeves and trousers can be adjusted).

The company's products have their own designations. The “ Dry Level” will tell you about the waterproofness of the product. To find out what temperature a thing can withstand, you need to pay attention to the “ Heat Level “ indicator. How functional the clothing is, how many useful details it contains, will be indicated by the “ Function Level ” indicator, and the “breathable” properties will be told by the breathability level “ Breathable Level “.

In the production of DIDRIKSONS clothing, various innovative materials and technologies are used. Not only membrane fabrics, but also other modern ones, such as Oxford fabric, Galon®, high-tech material SoftShell, Cordura®, etc. Use of the Outdry® waterproofing system, reliable fittings (Aquaguard® zipper and buttons with " Wet stop®") and water-repellent coatings (PLAZMA DWR +, DWR +, DWR, WR) make the brand's clothing incredibly reliable and of high quality.

What I personally like about the Didrikson brand is its design, it is laconic and minimalistic in Scandinavian style – no unnecessary decorative elements. Only functional thoughtful details and solid, but pleasant and stylish colors, from calm and conservative to brighter colors. For me, this is very important, the red jumpsuit can easily carry the daughter at first, after 2 years - the son.

Lego wear, Denmark

legowear.com

LEGO Wear is a continuation of the LEGO toy universe. Today it is one of the most popular and sought-after children's brands. After all, quality, functionality, comfort and aesthetics play well together.

The clothes are created based on the “I CAN DO IT MYSELF” concept, specific details of clothes for different ages are used - buttons, hooks, zippers, easy-fastening buttons, a wide collar so that it is easy for a child to put on and take off on their own.

The label says about the tightness of the seams, moisture permeability (8000 mm), wear resistance. Very durable fabric (much stronger, for example, Reima-Lenne, with which I was able to compare live), very resistant to abrasion (exceeds 50,000 cycles, Martindale test), does not crack in temperatures down to 30 degrees. Tight elastication on the sleeves, drawstrings, detachable hood, reflective trim, high-quality Japanese YKK zippers and sliders, wind protection strip above the zipper, glove attachment (gaiter type).

Just bombastic rates! Very oversized. From my own experience, for a height of 98 at 3 years, size 98 is literally large for a couple more years:

Valianly, China

This is factory China (since 1976), which is why the price is so affordable. But the quality of clothes is much higher than the price , there is no terrible smell, protruding threads, etc. And fashion design is generally developed in Finland, by the way, consumers are often misled by this, selling them "Finnish" products.

Waterproof membrane Gore-Tex over 10000 mm, filler - thinsulate (frost up to -25), taped seams. Thinsulate is a very light material, but warmer than natural down. Products dry quickly and do not shrink after washing. The models are oversized.

There are very few reviews of Valianly overalls, but many are satisfied with the quality of clothes at a price half that of competitors.

Killtec, Germany

killtec.de

Has existed since 1981. Specializes in the production of sportswear for everyday life and active activities. A distinctive feature and advantage of Killtec clothes is their versatility, the use of high-tech modern fabrics, a huge presence of additional finishing details and quite a reasonable price.

Clothing is presented in several series, the basic collection Tech-Line Level 3 - for daily activities on the slopes and outdoors, and the more advanced line Level 5, Level 10 - for professional use with neoprene technologies.

Main indicators: water resistance 3000 mm, vapor permeability 3000 g/m2/24 h, windproof maximum.

Other features: Taped seams, zip with chin guard, zippered side pockets, reflective details on sleeves for better visibility, built-in snow skirt, dirt-repellent Protherm coating.

Estonia

www.lenne.ee

The Estonian company Lenne was founded in 1991 and they specialize in the production of children's outer(!) clothing. Their main range is overalls, jackets, trousers, hats and mittens. Approximately 350 different models are produced per year. The overalls are made in Estonia. Therefore, it was in the field of tailoring winter outerwear that Lenne achieved certain significant results.

Their advantages are high-tech fabrics, windproof and warm, breathable, water-repellent. Vibrant colors, great design.

There are two winter collections - Active and Active Plus. The differences are in the pictures.

Finnish Reima

reima.fi

These jumpsuits are on everyone's lips. The main advantages of Reima membrane clothing are: waterproof, breathable, windproof, taped seams, reflective elements, a detachable hood/straps, pockets are closed with a zipper, there are often inserts of high-strength material on the knees and buttocks.

Reima has its own developments - durable Cordura® material, super-durable Duraplus®, Reimatec® membrane.

For models from the Reimatec series, the upper is made of Cordura and Reimatec (high-strength polyamides), the insulation is polyester. The water resistance of the membrane is 10000-15000 mm. The temperature regime, subject to the principle of layering, is up to -25.

For parents, special labels with snowballs and drops are sewn onto overalls.

0 snowflakes are clothes for the off-season, without a warm lining.
It is designed for spring and early autumn. 1 snowflake means synthetic insulation weighing up to 100 grams.
It is warm and light clothing for the cool off-season. 2 snowflakes report synthetic insulation weighing up to 180 grams.
This is our largest category, covering temperatures from 0 to -20°C. 3 snowflakes mean that the insulation contains artificial down or natural down and feather, which is designed for the coldest weather - up to -30 ° C.

Droplets indicate different degrees of protection of the membrane from moisture and dirt:

1 drop - clothes withstand light rain.
2 drops - suitable for games during rain and snow.
3 drops - the child can sit quietly in the snow or in a puddle without fear of getting wet.
Ideal for sports and long active games in the yard! 4 drops - clothes for children who go in for winter sports.

However, Reima also has disadvantages. For example, the outer seams are taped, which seems to be good. But this is also their weak point, literally after a couple of months of wearing socks, the seams are wiped 🙁 Although now there are already models without an internal seam on the legs (they have increased wear resistance!)

Danish brand Molo

molo.com

Exists since 2003, very popular in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and England. Even Danish princes and queens were noticed in Molo's clothes 🙂 A distinctive feature is a bright palette and funny prints, which, combined with quality and original design, distinguishes the clothes of this brand from the rest.

Winter overalls boast 10000mm water resistance, 8000g/m2/24h breathability, 3M Thinsulate™ insulation filling, 3M Scotchgard™ PFC stain protection. Recommended t° mode from +5 to -20.

Pros: Taped seams, warm soft fleece lining, detachable and large fleece hood, snow cuffs, secure neck and chin zippers, durable adjustable rubber boot thongs, reflective piping for better visibility.
