How to properly defrost a refrigerator

Today we will talk about how to properly (read - quickly and easily) defrost the refrigerator, how to properly care for it, so that this process - i.e. defrosting - had to be done as rarely as possible and how, in fact, to wash it, i.e. keep clean and tidy.

Perhaps you will object to me and tell me that you bought a refrigerator that does not need to be defrosted. In fact, this is not entirely true. Modern refrigerators need to be defrosted! But this should be done much less frequently than before: not 1-2 times a month (!), once a year is enough.

What is the essence of this misunderstanding? Everything is very simple: the concept of “defrosting a refrigerator” has undergone significant changes over the past 10-20 years. If our mothers in their youth defrosted the refrigerator in order to remove ice and snow deposits, today, yes, there are refrigerators with the No Frost system, in which an “ice coat” as such does not form.

But nevertheless, the refrigerator must be defrosted from a purely hygienic point of view - in order to remove colonies of harmful and dangerous microorganisms and bacteria that have settled.

So what needs to be done:

— Disconnect the device from the network. If your refrigerator has two chambers with independent power, turn off only, for example, the freezer and take care of it. If there is a special defrost mode that allows you to leave the refrigerator plugged in, turn it on.

- I recommend defrosting the refrigerator in winter, in which case you have the opportunity to take the products to the balcony for a couple of hours, where they can “hold out” until you start the refrigerator. And in general, it is not recommended to do this in hot weather, the interior of the refrigerator will heat up so much that the compressor will operate at “increased speed” to enter the desired mode and can easily fail.

- Leave the refrigerator with the door open for an hour or two - until the snow growths thaw. In no case do not put a bowl of hot water inside (I remember my mother did this) and do not break off pieces of ice with a knife, screwdriver or other sharp objects. You can pierce the refrigerant pipes and start saving up for a new refrigerator.

- After that, wash and dry all panels, drawers and walls.
Use a soft sponge and soapy water, or if there is an unpleasant odor, you can wash the camera with diluted vinegar or a baking soda solution. You can use another folk remedy - wipe the walls of the refrigerator with a potato cut in half. - Only after all the boxes are dry, turn on the refrigerator and load the food.

Better yet, read the instructions for your refrigerator and then you will know exactly how to take care of your faithful friend!
