In our globalized world, the question of knowledge of foreign languages is becoming more and more acute. A person who knows one or more foreign languages is always more in demand in society. And sometimes, if your destiny depends on the knowledge of the language, then the process of learning it is simply inevitable.
But how to come to the ability to communicate with foreigners - we will now consider this.
We all went to school, some graduated from universities, but few have mastered during this time, I no longer speak fluently, but at least the initial skills of a spoken foreign language.
Recently, a situation has developed that even the native language has become alien to many: incorrect pronunciation, inappropriate use of borrowed words, jargon makes something incomprehensible from the Russian language. And with a foreign language, everything is much more complicated. There are no native speakers nearby, there is not always someone to just chat with on the most everyday topics for practice.
So, how can you effectively learn a foreign language?
There are several options for fulfilling a longed-for dream, these are language courses, learning a language with a tutor and, finally, independent study. Let's consider each option separately using the example of English as the most popular language, although, without a doubt, all this is suitable for learning any non-native language.
1. Language courses.
So, number one in terms of use and, I think, the result is courses. They will help you gain the confidence to communicate with foreigners.
There are usually a great many courses in every city, and very often the question arises of how not to make a mistake in your choice. Here are some tips from shop-ultra.ru.
To make the best decision, you will have to visit the selected courses more than once in order to familiarize yourself. First you need to look around and understand whether it is really possible to get the knowledge you need for the time and money that is offered in advertising.
Then, at the chosen school of English, you need to find out a few more points.
1. Ask to be introduced to the lesson program. If they don’t have this, then everything is built on improvisation, and this is not always good.
2. Specify the amount of material that is given in the lesson and for the entire period of study as a whole. If you do not get a clear answer, then there is no certainty that by the end of the classes you will receive the necessary and proposed knowledge base.
3. Let them reveal to you the entire list of topics that should be worked out in the learning process. If it turns out to be difficult for them, then you should not expect a good result.
4. Try to find out reviews about these courses on the Internet, in the media, through your acquaintances. If the number of negatives exceeds the positive recommendations, then it is better not to deal with such a team.
5. Listen to the recommendations of your former teachers, friends who have gone through such a period in life, and whom you trust, they will be able to offer you the best option.
It is best to choose the option that you like and where you can get really high-quality training.
2. Lessons with a tutor.
Lessons with a tutor are very effective - this is for those who have the necessary financial resources, because an individual teacher is always expensive. The advantages of such training: the study period is reduced, you can agree on classes at a convenient time, you can focus on the conversational part, choose the topics you need only.
The effectiveness of classes depends on how you build relationships with the teacher, how pleasant and interesting he will be to you as an interlocutor. Be sure to ask about the education and work experience of the prospective tutor, although the latter is sometimes more important than the former. After all, it is extremely important that he has the experience of living in a country of native speakers, otherwise how will you be sure that he teaches you correctly if he himself has never practiced live communication.
3. Independent study.
If there is no money for a tutor, one thing remains - to gather strength and immerse yourself in the world of the English language.
There is no single effective method for learning English, because each of us is individual and has certain inclinations: it is easier for someone to learn new words by ear, someone will remember them better if he sees them in front of him every day, for example, on the refrigerator. Therefore, we will only offer you some tips, and you already choose those that are right for you.
We offer you several ways to organize independent work.
# The first step towards learning a language is to learn how to speak it without delving into the study of grammar rules. Remember, this is how children learn to speak - first individual words, then ready-made phrases, and, finally, whole sentences. This will help you to learn the repeated repetition of foreign words. This is how they are remembered.
# Where to get materials? Select a few suitable mailing lists on the Internet and start improving your knowledge on your own.
# Another piece of advice for those who dared to learn a foreign language in any of the ways. Listen to audio recordings in English, find programs in this language, try to understand at least something. If you love music, listen to English songs.
Performances in English will be very good listening material. Buy special audio lessons for beginners and listen, listen, listen.
# Read books, but do not try to achieve a literary translation for yourself, you do not need to comprehend every phrase.
What to read? Prefer detective stories - take the lightest ones and go for it. Love stories about unrequited love, get it. And forward: I took a look at the phrase, I understood basically what it was about, move on. If you don’t understand something, you need to look in the dictionary, find the word that caused the stop, and move on.
Don't look up every unfamiliar word in the dictionary. Draw an analogy with reading books in your native language, you just follow the plot. So it is necessary to read in a foreign language. You skimmed through the phrase, if you understood what was written, read on. If you don’t understand everything because of some word, pick up a dictionary.
# There are many blogs in English written in relatively simple language on the Web. By reading them, you will quickly learn to understand written speech and write yourself. But oral conversational practice is indispensable.
# Therefore, even if your current level of language proficiency leaves much to be desired, do not be afraid to communicate in English. Here again the Internet comes to the rescue. There are special sites where you can find those who want to learn Russian, and they, in turn, will teach you their native English. If you want to chat live, put yourself on Skype or another video chat.
It is important to understand the rules of English intonation. Here it is necessary to take into account several points that are very difficult for Russian speakers. But all this is surmountable, the main thing is that there is a desire.

Who cares, but English has always been good for me. hard. Help came, as they say, from where they were not expected. Online games and movies with subtitles helped me. I specifically went to play on a foreign server. There I was able to start communicating with native speakers. And once in harsh conditions (either understand what is required of you, or your character will die))) I started to speak quite tolerably after a couple of months 🙂
