A very popular element of site design, both in Europe and in our country, will help to bring a new stream to the landscape design of your garden - an alpine hill. In Russia, at first, slides were created from construction debris sprinkled with earth, but now there is a more professional and creative approach to this design direction.
This miniature mountain landscape could be one of the most interesting spots on your property, and it's quite possible to make it yourself. This requires only time and the following materials: stones (limestone, granite or sandstone), sand, peat, shovel, scrap and plants. And, of course, your desire and good mood.
How to make an alpine slide with your own hands? It is best to start creating a rock garden in the fall, but it is also possible to start this activity in the spring. First, evaluate the landscape design of the site that you already have, as well as the terrain of the site. It is advisable to choose a place where there is a hill or slope, well visible and lit. Avoid the proximity of large structures and tall trees so that your slide does not look small and inconspicuous.
First you need to prepare the place. We lay the base on the loosened weeded earth - crushed stone, gravel or expanded clay, in order to prevent excessive accumulation of moisture. From above we fall asleep with pebbles or sand, then we lay the prepared soil.
Now we start laying stones from large to smaller. The main thing is to avoid boredom and monotony in design. You can try to diversify the color combinations if you decide to choose granite, or simply lay out some of the stones in a chaotic manner on the approaches to the hill. All gaps between the earth, gravel and stones must be well tamped and covered with earth for planting - mix sand, peat and sod in equal proportions. After that, we leave the hill until spring.
The next stage of work on the rock garden is planting. You can choose the assortment and number of plants according to your taste, but do not forget that the inhabitants of your rock garden are quite capricious and need care and attention.
It is recommended to start with planting boxwoods and conifers, then herbaceous species, and complete the look of the hill by planting ground cover plants. Try to find out in advance the demands of plants for moisture and light, their compatibility and root system.
When arranging, make sure that your plants grow without shading each other, and the slide harmoniously fits into the landscape design of your garden. Do not forget to weed your hill in time, otherwise the weeds will completely disable all your outlandish plants.
Following these recommendations, you will get a magnificent corner of the Alpine landscape, which will delight you and your guests every year, and will become one of the most beautiful and favorite places on your site.

I think it's hard to advise anything for everyone.
Everyone does it for himself and chooses plants to his taste, chapters. some of them must be chosen such that they do not cover the stones from which the slide is laid out
