Shelving for books in an unusual form factor

Everything unusual causes surprise and admiration. Gone are the days when neighbors boasted that they bought the same Polish set or Czech porcelain. Especially young people now tend to choose unique things. And this applies to everything - fashionable clothes, unusual gadgets, creative furniture, which we wrote about in this article .

The bookshelves deserve special mention. Despite the fact that e-books and readers are confidently coming into fashion, few people can deny themselves the pleasure of flipping through a book over a cup of hot chocolate. A dozen or two favorite books are in every home. How to store them? The presented bookcases are unusual, and everyone can make such furniture with their own hands. The main thing is ideas.

A “soft” book shelf was proposed by designers from Lateral Architecture. Looks pretty.

The elastic band will appeal to lovers of minimalism. The author, unfortunately, is unknown.

And this funny rack is the flight of thought of the designer Miron Lior. Thanks to the unusual design, the effect is created as if the books are hanging in the air. Although, in reality, everything is simple: a plate is attached (the designer sells it for $ 10-15), which heals the cover of the lowest book. As a result, all other books are placed on the first. The only negative is that in order to get the bottom book you will have to disassemble the entire structure. Therefore, do not attach more than 5 books to one plate.

A similar version is also from Miron Lior. Edge books are also supported by plates.

You can buy such a rack for 250 dollars. And you can make such shelving for books with your own hands.

And also a vertical version of the shelf. As you can see, bookcases with glass have lost their relevance.

I really liked the stacks, where the books seem to hang in the air. Who tried to make such styles with their own hands?
